Why Is the Mainstream News Ignoring This?
Here we have the State Attorneys General from Missouri and Louisiana suing the federal government and Anthony Fauci in particular for violations of the First Amendment and doing so on behalf of three Brownstone Senior Scholars.
A judge has agreed that Fauci and many others must cough up information relevant to the case in 21 days. It’s huge news but is any mainstream news organization covering it? Nope. The intrepid Epoch Times is all over it, and Brownstone too of course.
Before listing some offerings from this week, we want to thank especially all our supporters, who inspire with generosity and faith that the truth will prevail.
No Holy Communion for the Sick, They Said by FR. JOHN LINCOLN DOWNIE. When a person is dying or in danger of death, this is the moment when their religion is most dear to them. It is not within the hospital’s jurisdiction to decide when you can or can’t confess your sins, receive Holy Communion and prepare to meet your maker. This abhorrent practice of refusing entrance to clergy must stop now.
How Lockdowns Broke Human Capital by JOHN TAMNY. Politicians, policymakers, and experts who would never miss a paycheck or a meal suddenly decided that workers not like them were no longer essential. In making this choice for others, they robbed human beings of years of investment of self in certain industries while also bluntly telling these others that their livelihood could be taken from them near overnight.
Judge Orders Fauci to Cough It Up by JEFFREY A. TUCKER. Finally we see courts coming around to the view that government needs to be held accountable for its actions. It is happening far too little and far too late but at least it is happening. And at long last, we might gain a clearer look into the mysterious works of Fauci and its imperial reign over American public health during the worst crisis for constitutional rights in many generations.
No Way Was the Huanan Market the Epicenter of Covid by MICHAEL SENGER. There’s something rotten in the state of virology. The study performed by these leading virologists, who’ve been dead centre in the Covid saga from the earliest secret calls about the virus in early 2020, is entirely reliant on a critical assumption that an early cluster of cases around the Huanan Market in Wuhan in December 2019 represented “the earliest known 174 COVID-19 cases in the world”—an assumption which is belied by an overwhelming amount of replicable, peer-reviewed evidence to the contrary.
The Appropriation and Corruption of Testimonialism BY THOMAS HARRINGTON. We must begin to stubbornly hold our places when both the powerful old, and the insouciant young, spring the “agree-with-my-sound-bite-version-of-the-truth-or-be- banished” gambit on us. Yes, they will amp up the volume to try and get us to cower and fold. We need to be stubborn and conflictive with them in ways that many of us never wanted, or believed we could be.
Debi Does Lockdowns BY DEBBIE LERMAN. Each anti-scientific, non-public-health measure in itself – e.g., universal cloth masking, testing and quarantining after the virus was widespread, focusing on cases instead of hospitalizations or deaths – was not intended to achieve anything, except the singular goal of fomenting massive fear. And the purpose of the fear was to ensure maximum compliance with lockdowns.
Klaus Schwab is the Sorcerer’s Apprentice BY CRAIG PIRRONG. Schwab’s main allies are in the managerial class, indeed, they are at the pinnacle of that class being the CEOs of massive corporations. But an organization–a business–is fundamentally different than an economic and social system, and the methods that work for an organization don’t work for a complex system in which formal organizations are just a part. This is why, for instance, avatars of high modernist management and engineering, like Herbert Hoover and Jimmy Carter, failed miserably as presidents.
Lockdowns Did Not Save Lives BY JOHN JOHNSON, DENIS RANCOURT. The regulatory imposition and enforcement of statewide shelter-in-place or stay-at-home orders conclusively correlates with larger health-status-corrected, per capita, all-cause mortality by state. This result is inconsistent with the hypothesis that lockdowns saved lives.
The Experts Still Pushing Coerced Jabs BY DAVID BELL, DOMINI GORDON. In a previous era, or in a previously credible medical journal, an argument for coercion to support a medical procedure would have required very high standards of evidence of efficacy and safety. It is arguing for the abrogation of fundamental principles such as informed consent that are at the core of modern medical ethics. Failure to address well-known contrary data should prevent an article from even reaching the peer-review stage.
Israel’s Green Pass Policy: A Chronicle of a Tragedy Foretold BY SHIRLY BAR-LEV. The greater the distrust, the greater the fear of sanctions. But the greater the fear of sanctions, the more those objecting to vaccinate were adamant not to vaccinate. The erosion of trust found in this study echoes other studies indicating that the Israelis are losing trust in public institutions, with over half saying the country’s democracy is in danger.
Religious Individuals Versus Collectivist Control BY BRUCE W. DAVIDSON. One significant gift of Judaism and Christianity is the concept that an individual is responsible and valuable apart from the group. As Larry Siedentop explains in his book Inventing the Individual, Western civilization’s moral and legal foundations owe a great deal to that legacy. Before that, the ancient Romans and Greeks considered loyalty to the family-clan to be an absolute religious duty.
The Chief Cause of Problems Is Bad Solutions BY THORSTEINN SIGLAUGSSON. When almost the whole world loses sight of the common goal of human society, and the elimination of a single problem, in the end a rather unimportant one, takes precedence over everything else, thus becoming the goal – a distorted and absurd one, a disastrous and ruinous one for sure – this is an indication of a fundamental loss of common sense.
Frankenstein Was the Foreshadowing BY JEFFREY A. TUCKER. We keep doing this, gathering the raw material, going back to the lab, hooking up the idea to the power source, throwing the switch, and experiencing shock and regret at the results. Our modern monsters aren’t isolated threats; they are killing freedom the world over.
I Weep for My Profession: Letter to the American Economic Association BY DONALD BOUDREAUX. Your announcement ensures that I will not attend the meetings under such absurd restrictions. Furthermore, it makes me weep for my profession, for it is strong evidence that today’s leaders of the world’s most prestigious organization of professional economists are unaware of basic facts about covid and, worse, ignorant of basic tenets of economics.
The Return of Carl Schmitt and His Scheme for Regime Longevity BY JEFFREY A. TUCKER. Let us remember that Carl Schmitt despised America and everything it stood for, especially the idea of individual liberty and limits on government. It’s one thing to study his writings in graduate school as a warning to what it means to turn against enlightenment values. It’s another thing entirely to deploy his theories as a viable path to keeping power when it appears unstable, not only in Beijing but also Washington, DC. That should truly terrify all of us.
Fauci’s Red Guards: The Mass Censoring of Social Media BY MICHAEL SENGER. By simultaneously threatening both the federal bureaucracy and social media companies, a handful of high-level officials could effectively transform the federal government into a sprawling censorship army reminiscent of Mao’s Red Guards, silencing any opposition to tin-pot public health policies with increasing detachment and certitude as this systematic silencing falsely convinced them that the regime’s policies were just and good.
The History and Meaning of Schedule F: Interview with James Sherk BY BROWNSTONE INSTITUTE. The struggle against the administrative state – the permanent professional bureaucracy that exercises awesome power without accountability to voters – is among the most formidable of our time.
The Pandemic Did This? New York Times Fails Fact Check BY DEBBIE LERMAN. A pandemic cannot impose mandates or lockdowns. A pandemic cannot block borders or force people to stop traveling. A pandemic cannot shutter schools – overnight or otherwise. A pandemic cannot impact math and reading. A pandemic cannot cause learning gaps.
Cold War Nostalgia Explained BY JEFFREY A. TUCKER. With lockdowns and the current political and economic chaos, the global empire has come home to oppress us all in the most personal possible way. We now read tales of life in the Soviet Union and we recognize it all too well. We read 1984 by George Orwell and recognize it in our own experience. This is not what winning the Cold War was supposed to mean.
Uncovering the Army of Federal Censors BY AARON KHERIATY. This evidence suggests we are uncovering the most serious, coordinated, and large-scale violation of First Amendment free speech rights by the federal government’s executive branch in U.S. history.
Mask Up, Berkeley Students BY ROBERT MALONE. Seems like UC Berkeley is living in some authoritarian reality, where it is acceptable to dictate medical procedures based on their own twisted morality, values and virtue signaling.
